CINQUE TERRE
"Natural beauty"
Cinque Terre is a group of five picturesque villages situated on the ligurian coastline, in the north-west part of Italy.
These enchanting towns are known worldwide for their unspoiled beauty, their cultural heritage and authentic daily life.
THE TOWNS
"Appealing uniqueness"
The five towns that are included in the Cinque Terre area are Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.
Each of them has its own features and attributes, but all of them offer breathtaking panoramas, winding streets, colorful buildings and gorgeous beaches.
THE FIRST VILLAGE
Monterosso
Proceeding from north to south, the first village of Cinque Terre is Monterosso al Mare, which is also the biggest one. It is famous for its beaches that, unlike the other towns, are the only sandy ones, and for San Giovanni Battista’s church, located in the centre. Here you can admire the works of the Flemish artist Van Dyck and of the Genoese master Cambiaso.
THE SECOND VILLAGE
Vernazza
The second one is Vernazza, one of the most fascinating towns of the national park.
This medieval village offers a breathtaking sea view, thanks to its privileged position over the water.
It’s also famous for its Doria castle, a XV century fortress that overlooks the area.
THE THIRD VILLAGE
Corniglia
The third village is Corniglia, which is situated on a hill, approximately 100mt above sea level.
It’s the only village without a direct access to the sea but it’s anyway a popular destination thanks to its nice cobbled streets and colorful buildings.
THE FOURTH VILLAGE
Manarola
Manarola, the fourth village, it’s another gem of the ligurian Riviera.
The town is famous for its illuminated nativity scene, composed of more than 300 figures spread over the hill which is possible to admire during Christmas time, and for the terraced amphitheatre that surrounds the village, from which are produced high quality wines.
THE FIFTH VILLAGE
Riomaggiore
Coming from Genoa, the fifth village of Cinque Terre is Riomaggiore, a charming town on the seaside where you can visit the medieval castle, San Giovanni Battista’s church and, on the top of the hill, the sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Montenero, from which you can enjoy an amazing panorama over the whole area of Cinque Terre.
GASTRONOMIC EXPERIENCES
